Tuam Community Development Resource Centre (TDCRC) is a locally based organisation involved in anti-poverty and social inclusion initiatives at a community level. The project is funded by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs under the National Development Plan 2000 – 2006 with funds from the National Lottery.

Resource Centre

  • ·    The centre provides practical supports such as photocopying, typing, access to meeting rooms, use of computers for both individuals and groups.

  • ·    The centre provides information on social welfare rights and entitlements, housing and funding opportunities on a drop in-basis and an outreach service from the Galway People’s Resource Centre on Tuesday afternoons.

  • ·    A community magazine “Reaching Out” is produced at both the summer and Christmas.

  • ·    A Community Directory is produced and up-dated annually by TCDRC.

Adult Education and Training

  • ·    Adult Education and Training opportunities are provided by the centre such as a Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) Computer Training programme that is managed through the centre providing FETAC Levels: Foundation; One and Two accreditation.  

  • ·    The STEPS (Steps to Excellence for Personal Excellence) programme with support from the Jobs Club programme is offered to local people providing tools for positive change in every area of their life.

Equality for Women’s Measure
TCDRC was awarded funding through the ‘Equality for Women Measure’ programme to support and encourage women and women’ groups to progress into decision-making roles at a local level.  

 
Domestic Violence Outreach
A Domestic Violence outreach service supported by Waterside House Women’s Refuge (Galway City) is available to offer support and advice on a confidential one-to-one basis every Wednesday.
 
Childcare Service
The Childcare Service Happy Days Crèche and Playgroup provides for the needs of children ranging in ages from 3 months to 5 years, with an emphasis on positive play through the provision of a safe environment for children to learn, socialise and play. Part-time sessions are offered in the morning and/or afternoon.
